The Middle Class Is Collapsing — And That Might Be Humanity’s Chance to Grow
Mo Gawdat, former Chief Business Officer at Google X and one of the earliest voices on AI’s impact, has made a stark prediction: by 2030, most jobs as we know them will vanish. Not just factory jobs or manual labor, but the white-collar, laptop-driven work many of us believed to be the ticket to freedom. If your plan was to freelance digitally, offer generic creative services, or make a living through intellectual arbitrage — be prepared for disappointment.
AI is not nibbling at the edges of work; it is devouring its core. You already see signs: McKinsey laying off thousands of consultants because algorithms can replace their analysis. Tax consultants, lawyers, even doctors — all the professions once placed on society’s pedestal — are finding themselves replaceable. The assumption that education plus hustle equals security is crumbling. The middle class, the great stabilizer of Western society, is entering a slow collapse.
When Work Loses Its Value
For decades, the market rewarded inefficiency. If you knew how to navigate complexity — paperwork, regulation, marketing channels — you could earn a living. But when AI reduces inefficiency to near zero, the model flips. Services provided only to make money will become worthless. Writing blog posts for the sake of clicks, designing logos without deeper strategy, even analyzing data for its own sake — these will not command value when a machine can do them instantly.
The real crisis will not just be financial, but existential. Millions of people, many with advanced degrees, will be stripped of the identities they’ve tied to their jobs. The lawyer who believed his prestige gave him meaning. The consultant who thought her frameworks changed the world. The doctor who thought years of training made him indispensable. They will face what many of us never dared to face while comfort kept us busy: the void.
The Only Work AI Cannot Do
That void is both terrifying and fertile. Because there is one domain AI cannot enter: the inner world. Machines can replicate intelligence but not consciousness. They can produce strategies but not soul. The collapse of the middle class may feel like despair for those unwilling to let go, but it can also be a portal into accelerated spiritual growth.
This is the work no algorithm can take away:
Facing your own shadows and demons.
Learning to detach from thoughts and emotions without denying them.
Reclaiming intuition, creativity, and compassion not as marketable skills but as ways of being.
Redefining success not by income or prestige, but by authenticity and wholeness.
For centuries, easy access to education and money allowed many of us to postpone this inner work. We told ourselves we were fine as long as the salary came in and the status symbols stacked up. But collapse forces confrontation. When the external scaffolding falls, you must learn to build from within.
My Own Collapse
I know this collapse intimately. For years I worked in tech consulting, chasing projects, prestige, and the illusion of freedom. On the outside, I was doing well. On the inside, I was unraveling. Anxiety hit me with such force that it stripped away every illusion of safety. Panic attacks left me unable to function, and for the first time I saw how meaningless the game of chasing money and titles had become.
Only through that crisis did I discover something deeper. Success is no longer about my bank account or my LinkedIn profile. It is about being able to live with myself fully and authentically. To integrate emotions rather than suppress them. To detach from thoughts and know I am not them. To trust the higher self — the observing presence that can connect dots, see the bigger picture, and hold others in their journey.
Humanity’s Inflection Point
We stand at a collective inflection point. The collapse of the middle class will strip away illusions of status and security. It will confront us with despair, yes — but also with the opportunity to grow into something profoundly different. Some will cling and suffer. Others will awaken and evolve.
The question is not whether jobs will disappear. They will. The question is whether we will use this collapse as a chance to step into the only realm machines cannot touch: the soul.
Because in the end, the future does not belong to those who manage to cling to disappearing jobs. It belongs to those who can create meaning when old structures crumble. It belongs to those who realize that true freedom has never been about the market. It has always been about consciousness.

Dive Deeper with a Coaching
On my journey through the dark night of the soul I had many great teachers and mentors on my side. I spent thousands of Euros (and still do) on coachings and every cent was worth it. I don't think I would have been able to turn my life around so quickly without the help of these amazing people. The value you are receiving from working on removing emotional blocks, limiting beliefs and toxic thinking, can't be measured in money.
Most people only need 6 sessions in 3 months to generate dramatic outcomes in their lives. It's not like I teach them new things or have a bullet proof process. Quite the opposite is true. I believe that structure and process can help, but in most cases you're limiting life and all of its wonderful ways to create miracles for you. I am working on an intuitive level and combine all of my experience and knowledge from freeing myself.
What my clients are saying about working with me
Clara, Startup Founder: "Through his own very real ordeal and great listening skills I felt understood and that he was able to level with me in a way that felt authentic and unlike other help I’d previously sought in this area. I was inspired to pursue my own happiness (not overnight) and today can say, nearly two years on, living in a different country with a life full of love and running my own company - doing something I love - I’m really glad we met."
Felix, Startup Founder: "Jan is an extraordinary human being and an outstanding coach. Through our coaching, he helps me tremendously with personal growth and always has practical guidance at his hand."
Zahid, Startup Founder: "Jan is an incredible listener. Through several conversations with him, I have gotten a huge amount of clarity about where I’m looking to go with my business, and how I can overcome personal and professional challenges."
💡 High performance demands deep nourishment.
For years, I pushed through stress, anxiety, brain fog, and low energy — thinking I could outwork it all. But behind the scenes, my gut was inflamed, my brain running on fumes, and my body depleted. It wasn’t until I got serious about root causes — fixing my digestion, calming my nervous system, and supporting myself with the right supplements — that things shifted. Magnesium, omega-3s, a high-quality B-complex, and targeted gut support became non-negotiables. If you’re a high performer, don’t wait until burnout hits. Test yourself. Fuel yourself. And give your system what it actually needs to thrive.
