This Simple Trick Put Me On Track For My Dream Life

One of the most profound life hacks I’ve discovered in recent years is brain building. It completely changed the way I engage with educational content. Instead of just consuming it, I now try to actively remember it, summarise it for myself, and reflect on why it’s meaningful to me.

This morning, I found myself listening to Dr. Daniel Amen again—a well-known figure in the world of psychiatry and something of a legend on the internet. I’ve listened to his material many times before, but sometimes you need to hear things more than once—especially the seemingly simple truths.

One thing he said struck me particularly hard. I know I have ADHD tendencies, so when he started talking about the importance of clarifying your goals and values—and regularly reflecting on them—I was all ears. (And yes, if you haven’t realised it yet, I’m using this newsletter as a way to repeat and internalise what I’ve learned today.)

He calls it The One Page Miracle. He does it with all his ADHD patients: You write down everything you want in life—your relationships, your work or business, your finances, your health, your spirituality. Whatever truly matters to you, put it on one page.

Then you take that list and ask yourself: How are my behaviours aligning with this future version of myself? Simple, right? If you want to run a marathon, you start training. But when it comes to our bigger life goals, we often procrastinate or even sabotage ourselves—and we always find excuses not to follow through.

Take relationships, for example. If you want a loving relationship but you’re either unhappy in your current one or still single, ask yourself: How has my behaviour sabotaged past relationships? How might it be undermining my current ones—whether romantic, familial, or social? And most importantly, how does that behaviour affect the relationship with myself?

In my own case, my core wound is neglect. I learned to isolate myself and deal with emotions alone, which only deepened my sense of loneliness. That pattern still shows up in my relationships today. When that old wound gets triggered, I tend to withdraw. I detach, which leads to even more loneliness—and in turn, more anxiety.

So if you feel lonely, and connection is a core need of yours, start by reconnecting with yourself. Check in. Ask what you need. Try to meet those needs. When you show up for yourself and build a loving relationship with your own inner world, you naturally become the kind of person who can also sustain a healthy partnership with someone else.

Of course, this work isn’t easy. You’re not just uncovering subconscious wounds and patterns—you’re also trying to shift them, step by step, without immediate proof that it’s working. That’s why the key is to become outcome-agnostic and process-oriented.

Instead of measuring progress by external milestones or the absence of symptoms, start paying attention to how you respond to subtle inner cues. That is where change happens. If you want to be a marathon runner: lace em up. Every day.

Dive Deeper with a Coaching

On my journey through the dark night of the soul I had many great teachers and mentors on my side. I spent thousands of Euros (and still do) on coachings and every cent was worth it. I don't think I would have been able to turn my life around so quickly without the help of these amazing people. The value you are receiving from working on removing emotional blocks, limiting beliefs and toxic thinking, can't be measured in money.

Most people only need 6 sessions in 3 months to generate dramatic outcomes in their lives. It's not like I teach them new things or have a bullet proof process. Quite the opposite is true. I believe that structure and process can help, but in most cases you're limiting life and all of its wonderful ways to create miracles for you. I am working on an intuitive level and combine all of my experience and knowledge from freeing myself.

What my clients are saying about working with me

Clara, Startup Founder: "Through his own very real ordeal and great listening skills I felt understood and that he was able to level with me in a way that felt authentic and unlike other help I’d previously sought in this area. I was inspired to pursue my own happiness (not overnight) and today can say, nearly two years on, living in a different country with a life full of love and running my own company - doing something I love - I’m really glad we met."

Felix, Startup Founder: "Jan is an extraordinary human being and an outstanding coach. Through our coaching, he helps me tremendously with personal growth and always has practical guidance at his hand."

Zahid, Startup Founder: "Jan is an incredible listener. Through several conversations with him, I have gotten a huge amount of clarity about where I’m looking to go with my business, and how I can overcome personal and professional challenges."

đź’ˇ High performance demands deep nourishment.
For years, I pushed through stress, anxiety, brain fog, and low energy — thinking I could outwork it all. But behind the scenes, my gut was inflamed, my brain running on fumes, and my body depleted. It wasn’t until I got serious about root causes — fixing my digestion, calming my nervous system, and supporting myself with the right supplements — that things shifted. Magnesium, omega-3s, a high-quality B-complex, and targeted gut support became non-negotiables. If you’re a high performer, don’t wait until burnout hits. Test yourself. Fuel yourself. And give your system what it actually needs to thrive.
